Rundle
Memorial's beautiful stained glass windows
were made in Canterbury, England, and
installed over the decade of the 1960s.
They depict scenes from the life of Christ,
combined with Canadian history, past and
present. The three large west windows
on the Banff Avenue side have center panels
depicting the three founding traditions of
the United Church of Canada.
The designer wanted to show both biblical and
contemporary hearers of the Word receiving
the Great Commission. The church
windows allude to many historical
references.
Rundle Memorial's congregation of forty
households is very much involved in ministry
in the present too. Especially in
summer, we have visitors from all continents
except Antarctica worshipping with us.
A community play school for three and four
year olds uses one wing of the church.
Various young travelers and seasonal workers
turn to us when they are in crisis.
